I
was born and raised in Merced on a ranch about 7 miles outside
the city limits. I went to OLM school, Golden Valley then
went on to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo where I earned a
degree in Agriculture Business Finance. After I graduated
I had the opportunity to move to Washington D.C. and intern
for our Congressman Dennis Cardoza. It was a fantastic experience
where I was able to meet some very influential people in
American Government and work and witness the legislative
process. I then moved to Philadelphia and worked for the
Department of Labor processing Immigrant Labor Visas. After
a year or so I decided to move back to California to pursue
a higher degree and complete a teaching credential. In 2008
I earned my Master’s Degree in Public Administration
from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and received
a Master’s Degree, and finished my teaching credential.
When I was finished I always knew that I wanted to move
back to Merced. I wanted to move back so that I could get
involved. You see, I have known what I’ve wanted to
do with my life since I was in the 5th grade, and that is
help people. I wanted to help my community. A community
that offered so much to me growing up, that I thought it
was only fair to give back and do something for my community.
I decided that I was going to run for city council to make
a difference in our community, and how I as a member of
a governing body can help my community reach its full potential.
We aren’t there yet, and won’t be unless there
are more of you out there who want to give back and get
involved. It is an awesome thing being involved and trying
to make a difference in the community you grew up in. There
is so much potential here in Merced that it is encouraging
as to what the future holds for us only if we here in Merced
can act on it.
